Privacy Policy
This policy explains what Coding Captain — a product of Blackshore Technologies — collects when you use this site, why we collect it, who we share it with, and how you get it removed. It applies to codingcaptain.com and the forms on it.
1. Who we are
Coding Captain sells an agency operating system for custom software, and connects small businesses with the operators who build it. When you fill in a form here, you are giving your information to Blackshore Technologies, and — if you asked to be connected with an operator — to the operator we introduce you to.
2. What we collect
We only collect what a form asks for, plus the usual technical basics:
- What you type into a form. Your name, business name, email address, and — if you choose to give it — your mobile phone number, along with a description of what you need help with.
- SMS consent. If you check the box consenting to text messages, we record that you consented, when, and from which form. We keep that record because we are required to prove consent before we may text you.
- Event registration and payment. If you register for an event, we collect what the registration asks for. Card payments are processed by Stripe — your card number goes to Stripe, not to us, and we never see or store it.
- Usage data. Pages you visited, roughly where you came from, and your device and browser type, collected by the analytics tools listed in §5.
3. Why we use it
To answer you, to introduce you to an operator when you asked to be introduced, to run events you registered for, to send you the messages and emails you opted into, and to understand which parts of this site are working. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it to build profiles for other companies to advertise against.
4. Mobile numbers and SMS consent
No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes.
Text messaging originator opt-in data and consent will not be shared with any third parties, excluding aggregators and providers (such as our messaging carrier) strictly for the purpose of delivering the messages you asked to receive.
Your mobile number is used to run the messaging program described in our SMS Terms & Conditions and to contact you about the request you submitted. You can stop the messages at any time by replying STOP, which neither cancels your account nor stops us emailing you about work in progress. Consenting to text messages is never a condition of buying anything from us.
7. How long we keep it
As long as we need it to do what you asked, and afterwards only as long as the law requires — with one deliberate exception: we keep records of SMS consent and opt-out after you unsubscribe, because that record is how we prove we had permission and how we make sure we never text you again.
8. Your rights
Email privacy@codingcaptain.com and ask us to show you the personal information we hold about you, correct it, or delete it, and we will. Depending on where you live you may have these rights by law; we extend them to everyone regardless. To stop texts, replying STOP is faster than emailing us.
9. Children
This is a service for people running or buying software for a business. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a child gave us information, email us and we will delete it.
10. Changes and contact
If we change this policy we will update the effective date at the top of the page. Questions about privacy go to privacy@codingcaptain.com; anything else goes to support@codingcaptain.com.
